The name Clammy-weed comes from the hairs covering the plant that exude a sap that makes the handler feel as if they have clammy hands after touching it. The leaves are compounded in threes and oval shaped. The fruits of Clammy-weed look like long green beans pointing up to the sky and are usually two and a half inches in length.
Clammy-weed does best in full sun and dry, sandy or rocky soil. It readily adapts to a variety of soils where the soil has been highly disturbed. It will do well in any climate condition. Clammy-weed easily self-sows itself once fall starts.
