Goldenrod-Old Field (Solidago nemoralis)
Rhizomatous, upright perennial of the sunflower family with tufts of tiny yellow flowers. One of the shortest Goldenrods, reaching 2' at most. Tolerates poor soils, but grows taller in rich soils. Commonly found in prairies and open woodlands. Self-seeds readily.
