Prairie Dock (Silphium terebinthinaceum)
Among the taller and larger-leaved prairie plants, often maturing to 9'. The leaves mature in early summer and by late summer the flowering stalk shoots up yellow composite flowers. Attracts pollinators and birds. Extremely drought-resistant and long-lived perennial.
