Sunflower-Western (Helianthus occidentalis)
One of the shortest of the native sunflowers is commonly found growing in prairies, dry meadows, and fields. Grows 2-4' tall with a few small leaves at the bottom and small yellow flowers on top of red stems. Good for holding dry soils and preventing erosion.
