Common Tussock Sedge actively grows during the spring and fall when soil temperatures are cool. Carex stricta is a sedge for mesic areas. A few associated Lepidoptera species are Bog Lithacondia moth, Black Dash, Appalachian Brown, Eyed Brown, and Mulberry Wing.
