Midland Shooting Star (Dodecatheon meadia)
The early spring plants tend to get the most attention because we so need to see flowers at that time of year. Shooting Stars deserve the acclaim. They are true spring ephemeral of the prairie; they are completely done with their season and go dormant by mid summer.
