Goldenrod- Swamp (Solidago patula)
This perennial wildflower can be another great addition to add a pop of bright yellow in the fall to most areas. Despite the name, it will thrive in medium soils. Swamp Goldenrod has a light to almost-purplish green central stem with alternating leaves along its entirety, growing smaller as they ascend. The upper sides of the leaves are covered with stiff, small hairs while the underside is hairless. The flowers of this plant are found in ray and disk florets that give a messy, scattered appearance, but are very pretty with the green leaves complementing the strong, bold yellow color.
